Dilemma of A ‘Seeker’

Preoccupied for last four decades with ‘Grihastha Ashram’, recently decided to read in depth our spiritual sacred books, ever since then a guilt feeling has developed that not only wasted complete life in the mundane activities but may not be able to comprehend fully the philosophy and the deep enlightening meaning therein in these philosophical treatise and apply them fully to this span of life in the whatever left over time before go for deep slumber.

The dilemma is...How to get rid of this guilt feeling and manage the left over time to gain the full knowledge and apply it in this journey of life?

Qualities of Devotees (Men-of-Perfections)

In the following seven stanza of Chapter XII of Bhagvad Gita, Lord Krsna enumerates the characteristics features of a Man-of-Perfection, and thereby prescribes the correct mode-of-conduct and the way-of- life for all seekers.

अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानाम मैत्र: करुण एव च ।

निर्ममो निरहंकार: समदु:खसुख: क्षमी ।। १२:१३

संतुष्ट: सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढ़निशचय: ।

मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो मद्भक्त: स मे प्रिय: ।। १२:१४

यस्मान्नोद्विजते लोको लोकान्नोद्विजते च य: ।

हर्षामर्षभयोद्वेगैर्मुक्तो य: स च मे प्रिय: ।। १२:१५

अनपेक्ष: शुचिर्दक्ष उदासीनो गतव्यथ: ।

सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रिय:।। १२:१६

यो न हृष्यति न द्वेष्टि न शोचति न कादंक्षति ।

शुभाशुभपरित्यागी भक्तिमान्य: स मे प्रिय: ।। १२:१७

सम: शत्रौ च मित्रे च तथा माना पमानयो:।

शीतोष्णसुखदु:खेषु सम: संगविवर्जित: ।। १२:१८

तुल्यनिन्दास्तुतिर्मोनी संतुष्टो एन केनचित ।

अनिकेत: स्थिरमतिर्भक्तिमान्मे प्रियो नर: ।। १२:१९

11.	मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो	Mind and intellect dedicated to ME.
12.	यस्मान्नोद्विजते लोको	The world does not flee from him
13.	लोकान्नोद्विजते	Nor does he flee from the world
14.	हर्षामर्षभयोद्वेगैर्मुक्तो	Free of delight, rage, fear, and disgust.
15.	अनपेक्ष:	Disinterested.
16.	शुचि:	Pure.
17.	दक्ष	Skilled.
18.	उदासीनो	Indifferent, unconcerned.
19.	गतव्यथ:	Untroubled.
20.	सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी	Relinquishing all involvements
21.	यो न हृष्यति न द्वेष्टि	He does not rejoice or hate.
22.	यो न शोचति न कादंक्षति	He does not grieve or feel desire.
23.	शुभाशुभपरित्यागी	Relinquishing fortune and misfortune.
24.	सम: शत्रौ च मित्रे	Impartial to foe and friend.
25.	सम: च मानापमानयो:	Impartial to honor and contempt.
26.	सम: च शीतोष्ण	Impartial to cold and heat.
27.	सम: च सुखदु:खेषु	Impartial to joy and suffering.
28.	संगविवर्जित:	Free from attachment
29.	तुल्यनिन्दास्तुति:	Neutral to blame and praise.
30.	मोनी	Silent.
31.	संतुष्टो एन केनचित	Content with his fate.
32.	अनिकेत:	Unsheltered.
33.	स्थिरमति:	Firm in thoughts.
